This task was based on a 2 minute me vid. We had to include photo's, filming of our likes, dislikes, highlight of our life and a green screen shot. We had to complete this full task in two weeks, one week for filming and one week for editing.
For pre-production i had created a shooting script which i had referred to while creating my me vid. The shooting script helped me understand the amount of time one shot should take and in what order i needed to do my me vid. The shooting script also helped me in many other ways; i knew what shoots i needed to shoot at school and at home. The script also helped me in deciding which location was best suited for each shot. At first i thought a shooting script is not necessary if you know what you are going to shoot, but once i started to film and edit i realised that its the most important thing as you can refer to it if you are unsure of hat shot is needed. I will definitely use a shooting script in future task as i feel it has helped me a lot. Although there are many things i have amended i still referred to the shooting script.
During the time I filmed my me-vid I used a range of shots. The first shot I decided to include was a 360 shot in the introduction. In this shot I had my sister to help film but before she filmed this shot I had to explain and do a demo for my sister to understand as to how I wanted the shot to be like, once she understood how I wanted the shot to be she helped me shoot this scene. While I was in the shot and my dialogue was 'Hey I'm Farhana, and I'm going to give you an intro on me, myself, and I.
(Screenshot of 360 turn)
I also included a panning shot where I filmed the outside of school. This was used in my me-vid to show were I am currently studying. I decided to use panning shot, as I have learnt how to adapt the skills I have learnt and implement them in to my work. I also felt that these little techniques and skills I have learnt will help making my me-vid more interesting instead of having still images or shots.

I also used green screen in my me-vid. This was the first time I had used green screen. The purpose of a green screen is to make it look like you are in a place where you actually are not. My green screen image was the burj khalifah, I decided to use this image because, its the worlds tallest buildings and also one of the best holidays. First stage in using the green screen is filming infront of the green screen, Mr Mallen and Mr Clarke helped film this shot. I stood infront of the green screen and Sir filmed me saying my dialogue making sure there is enough footage at the beginning and ending of my shot because, this is one of the difficulties we faced as a group in one of the previous tasks. When it came to editing the green screen I had cut off some of the dialogue to make the scenes flow better, I used which part I felt was important and necessary.

Throughout post production I had used I-movie. I personally felt I-movie was a great software to use as I felt it was easy to understand and adapt to the features as I have used it previously in another task. Although I had used this software before I feel there are many things I have learnt during this task which I didn't know about previously. Editing was one of the best parts of this task, I enjoyed editing and felt I had edited my me vid to the best of my abilities. On the other hand there is one thing which I had learnt during this task, which was inserting green screen. I first thought it would be hard but surprisingly it was quite straightforward. I feel that if I needed to use green screen in the future I would hesitate to use this technique as I feel confident in doing so.

The skills I have learnt in this task will definitely help me in doing my music video as I am much more confident with techniques and skill which will be useful when shooting the music video. I am also much more confident in using the software I-movie. I feel this task and the previous task has helped me develop a better understand in filming techniques and editing. I also personally feel I have progressed in terms of editing and filming. This current task and the previous task has definitely taught me alot of things such as: the importance of the shooting script, location, angles, shot types, time etc. Techniques such as green screen may come in useful for the music video. Overall I am extremely pleased with my progress and final piece of editing on my me vid.

Continuity Evaluation Excerise
How did you use 180 degree rule, rule of thirds and match on action?
-> 180 degree rule was used when Jasmeet and Thajeethan had a conversation. We made sure that we had not gone over the boundary. There was a point were we did not realise that we broke the 180 degree rule but once watching the complete editing we had to make some changes. 180 degree is when you do not cross the invisible line on the camera which we shouldn't cross. The camera should remain within that boundary.

Rule of thirds is when you are third way down the camera. We used rule of thirds mostly throughout the whole filming. One scene were we had used the rule of thirds was when Jasmeet was running, we made also made sure she did not break the 180 degree rule. The rule of thirds: photos are divided into thirds with two imaginary lines vertically and two lines horizontally making three columns, three rows, and nine sections in the images. Important composition elements and leading lines are placed on or near the imaginary lines and where the lines intersect.

Match on action is a very simple but essential technique, where the perspective of the camera changes during a scene and the scene continues to flow. We used match on action when Jasmeet had opened the door and ran through the door. This scene was two shots but we made it flow to seem as though it was only one shot. We also made sure that Jasmeet did not break the rule of thirds while doing this.

What challenges did you face during production? what would you change if you were to film again?
-> There were many challenges which we had faced such as continuity. The first challenge we faced as a group was misplacing our SD card. We had already done 5 shots but we misplaced the SD card which meant re shooting the 5 scenes again. This disappointed us as a group but we still continued to finish our filming in time and managed our time well. The clothes Jasmeet had worn had to be the same. There were alot of continuity problems. There was one scene were the Jasmeet had worn glasses and the next scene was without glasses so we had to re shoot because, there was no continuity in the shoots. There was also one day were Jasmeet had not worn the same clothes so that lost us a day of filming although we managed to not waste time and use it wisely. We did shots were Jasmeet was not needed. We also faced problems such as keeping the shots the same. There was a shot were Jasmeet had to open the doors and she pulled the door with her right hand, the second shot were she was coming through the door she had come through the left door. If we were to film again there would be many changes we would do such as making sure every shot linked and silly mistakes weren't made. I would also make sure we do over shoots at the beginning and end so that if we needed extra shoots to make it flow better it would help. Also shooting from all angles and choosing which works best.
What challenges did you face during post-production? What would you change if you were to edit again?
-> My group thought we had to do the story board at home so we all came to school with our storyboard and realized our storyboards did not flow because, we all had added the same shots so it was repeated unintentionally. We also changed our filming to what our actual plan was, there is many things which we had not used such as the over the shoulder because, it was too hard to get it to match what we wanted. The shots we had put in our storyboard, many were used but not in the specific areas as mentioned on the storyboard. If we had to edit again we would make sure we made it specific as to who is doing what part of the storyboard, and make our storyboard more specific so that we can use it and not change any part of the storyboard when it comes to editing.
What are the overall strengths of your work? Why?
-> The overall strengths of our work would be that we worked well as a team. in our group there was Jasmeet, she did the acting, Ellie who helped with the settings and camera position and counting Jasmeet in, and I was the person to film and were i needed help Ellie would help me. I believe there were many mistakes but there were also lots of positives to our filming and editing as we worked together as a team and made sure we put in our efforts.
What are the overall weaknesses of your work? Why?
-> The overall weakness of our work was that we had done the shots to precise and we did not do any over shots. This was the biggest mistake because, when editing we realized there were many things which we could have added and we also needed them extra seconds in the shots. An example would be when Jasmeet was running the scene stopped at her reaching midpoint. The next shoot we took of her was when she was right at the end so it did not flow. To cover this I had included a cut away because, this helped break the scene and it flowed better.
What overall improvements would you make to your work? Why?
-> I would improve the storyboard and also the filming. I would make sure the storyboard is precise and the filming has lots of over shots at the beginning and ending just in case it is needed, instead of having it precise and realizing it does not flow properly. Also shooting from all angles and choosing which is better for the situation.
Below are images of the storyboard, the storyboard is not in order as to the complete filming as i had made changes during the editing session:
