Me-Vid Evaluation

This task was based on a 2 minute me vid. We had to include photo's, filming of our likes, dislikes, highlight of our life and a green screen shot. We had to complete this full task in two weeks, one week for filming and one week for editing.

For pre-production i had created a shooting script which i had referred to while creating my me vid. The shooting script helped me understand the amount of time one shot should take and in what order i needed to do my me vid. The shooting script also helped me in many other ways;  i knew what shoots i needed to shoot at school and at home. The script also helped me in deciding which location was best suited for each shot. At first i thought a shooting script is not necessary if you know what you are going to shoot, but once i started to film and edit i realised that its the most important thing as you can refer to it if you are unsure of hat shot is needed. I will definitely use a shooting script in future task as i feel it has helped me a lot. Although there are many things i have amended i still referred to the shooting script.

During the time I filmed my me-vid I used a range of shots. The first shot I decided to include was a 360 shot in the introduction. In this shot I had my sister to help film but before she filmed this shot I had to explain and do a demo for my sister to understand as to how I wanted the shot to be like, once she understood how I wanted the shot to be she helped me shoot this scene. While I was in the shot and my dialogue was 'Hey I'm Farhana, and I'm going to give you an intro on me, myself, and I.

I also included a panning shot where I filmed the outside of school. This was used in my me-vid to show were I am currently studying. I decided to use panning shot, as I have learnt how to adapt the skills I have learnt and implement them in to my work. I also felt that these little techniques and skills I have learnt will help making my me-vid more interesting instead of having still images or shots.

I also used green screen in my me-vid. This was the first time I had used green screen. The purpose of a green screen is to make it look like you are in a place where you actually are not. My green screen image was the burj khalifah, I decided to use this image because, its the worlds tallest buildings and also one of the best holidays. First stage in using the green screen is filming infront of the green screen, Mr Mallen and Mr Clarke helped film this shot. I stood infront of the green screen and Sir filmed me saying my dialogue making sure there is enough footage at the beginning and ending of my shot because, this is one of the difficulties we faced as a group in one of the previous tasks. When it came to editing the green screen I had cut off some of the dialogue to make the scenes flow better, I used which part I felt was important and necessary.

Throughout post production I had used I-movie. I personally felt I-movie was a great software to use as I felt it was easy to understand and adapt to the features as I have used it previously in another task. Although I had used this software before I feel there are many things I have learnt during this task which I didn't know about previously. Editing was one of the best parts of this task, I enjoyed editing and felt I had edited my me vid to the best of my abilities. On the other hand there is one thing which I had learnt during this task, which was inserting green screen. I first thought it would be hard but surprisingly it was quite straightforward. I feel that if I needed to use green screen in the future I would hesitate to use this technique as I feel confident in doing so.

The skills I have learnt in this task will definitely help me in doing my music video as I am much more confident with techniques and skill which will be useful when shooting the music video. I am also much more confident in using the software I-movie. I feel this task and the previous task has helped me develop a better understand in filming techniques and editing. I also personally feel I have progressed in terms of editing and filming. This current task and the previous task has definitely taught me alot of things such as: the importance of the shooting script, location, angles, shot types, time etc. Techniques such as green screen may come in useful for the music video. Overall I am extremely pleased with my progress and final piece of editing on my me vid.
